New Library Cards
- Free to all Guilford County residents 16 years or older, for out-of-county patrons there is a one time $25 fee.
- Photo ID showing current address

Parents must be present for minors to get a library card
- Exception- A person living outside of Guilford County but working in the community may obtain a card at no cost. (Staff will note where employed.)
Patron Privileges
- Twenty items may be borrowed per library account. DVD checkouts are limited to 4 per account.
- Patrons can not checkout library materials with outstanding overdue items or fees of more than $3
- Patrons may renew items 2 times (unless there is a hold for another patron)
- Public computers may be used for one hour (longer if the computer is not in demand)
Loan Periods
Books: 3 weeks Audio books: 3 weeks
Videos, DVDs and Magazines: 1 week
*Due date is stamped in item

An item may be renewed twice unless it is requested by another patron.

Returns
- Books may be returned to the desk or in the outside drop box.
Videos, DVDs & audio books should be returned inside if possible.
Patron’s Responsibility

Patrons are responsible for borrowed materials.

Parents are responsible for materials borrowed by minors.
- Patrons are responsible for updating personal information such as addresses and phone numbers.
Fines
Overdue: 10 cents a day for book sand VHS tapes, 25 cents a day for movies.
- Maximum overdue fine $5
- Lost or destroyed items: Replacement cost of each item.
- Patrons with outstanding fines of more than $3 may not check out any items, including public computers.
